Profiles in Giving $5 Million Gift from Harvey Bookstein and Wife Harriet Helps CSUN Reach Fundraising Goal A $5 million gift from accounting industry leader Harvey Bookstein and his wife, Harriet — both California State University, Northridge alumni and lifelong supporters of the university — has pushed CSUN over the top in a two-year campaign to raise $25 million for its college of business. In recognition of the Booksteins’ commitment to CSUN, university officials plan to ask the California State University Board of Trustees to rename Juniper Hall, which houses the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics, to Bookstein Hall in their honor. Alumni, Faculty and Staff Make a Difference for Students by Donating to Food Pantry When California State University, Northridge announced the opening of two food pantries on campus for students struggling to pay for food and essential home supplies, a number of CSUN alumni, faculty and staff reached out to help in any way they could. The Matador Involvement Center at the University Student Union runs one pantry, which is located behind the Campus Bookstore (adjacent to Lindley Avenue/East Campus Drive). More Profiles in Giving Your Gifts at Work CSUN Alumni Scholarship - Eliana Ochoa-Bolton Eliana Ochoa-Bolton is studying cellular and molecular biology at California State University, Northridge. Her biggest inspiration is her brother who was recently diagnosed with MS. That put her on the path of studying stem cell research and finding a cure. Because of her drive and determination, she earned a CSUN Alumni Association Scholarship which will help with living expenses, books and lab materials. CSUN Alumni Scholarship - Alex Cañas Alex Cañas is studying biology at California State University, Northridge. With his father being in the hospital for several years, it inspired Alex to find the career path that he wanted, to be a physician assistant. Because of Alex’s hard work and determination, he earned a CSUN Alumni Association Scholarship, which will lessen any difficulties he has with expenses.
